As Kamala Harris doubles down on winning the race by peeling off Republican voters, I decided to sit down with the man who knew Reagan's politics best - his political consultant Stu Spencer.
The Reagan quote about the Cadillac queen is an appeal to racism and grievance. It's no different than Trump.
Limbaugh built a whole industry on hate, ignorance and grievance. Reagan set it all up. No more fairness doctrine. The perfect audience ready and waiting.
Reagan's the government is the problem quote positioned Republicans against governance itself.
The Great Recession was Reagan's ultimate economic achievement. De-regulation gone amok. Too bad he didn't live to see it.
Kamala is running a more anti-immigrant campaign than Reagan ever would’ve allowed. They’re drilling more oil than any Republican president in history. Democrats are now running on tax cuts for corporations to provide ownership in corporations.
You’re in a bubble of your own making but keep fooling yourself Bill. We need all the sheep we can get!
My name isn't Bill. I am sorry that I brought up real points that hurt your feelings.
Kamala is running on bipartisan immigration legislation. Reagan did the same exact thing. I applaud Reagan for being bipartisan. He did it more than just that one time, too. Trump is appealing to racism and xenophobia in Springfield and in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. I do doubt Reagan would go as far as claiming anyone was eating pets.
Yep, Biden did what he could to lower oil prices in a time of high gas prices in the recovery from the Pandemic. That doesn't change that Democrats are leading the transition to green energy to fight climate change. That reminds me that Reagan took the solar panels off the WH roof. What statement was he making?
Kamala isn't running on tax cuts for corporations. Reality is Reagan was one of the worst Presidents in our history on budgeting. He nearly tripled the deficit. That does remind me of the Dick Cheney quote - Reagan proved deficits don't matter.
Always good to see that it’s not just MAGA believing their own partisan nonsense.
You brought up no real points other than to drive home your own hypocrisy on all of these issues. Always an excuse and blame with you cultists. Never a moment for honest self reflection to recognize how much of a fool you’re being made out to be.
keep running your mouth Bill. You keep proving me right
Am I crazy to think Reagan may have even endorsed Harris? What do you think, Mike? I think Trump being a Russian apologist and the Helsinki Summit in 2018 between Trump-Putin would have been his final straw.
"I laugh now when progressives call Reagan a “crazy right winger,” since it was Reagan and William F. Buckley who systematically pushed out the John Birch Society and white supremacists from the GOP, paving the way for the modern conservative movement."
Only for Newt Gingrich and his ilk to welcome them back. Your "modern conservative movement" is Christian Nationalism descending into straight fascism.
Both of my late parents were Reagan republicans. Neither of them lived long enough to face the prospect of whether to vote for Trump, but I know neither of them ever would. My mom thought he was vulgar, and my dad would have been livid at a republican candidate for president who sucked up to Vladimir Putin.
The coalition of republicans putting country over party in this election and publicly supporting Kamala Harris are, IMO, acting in the best tradition of Reagan. Among many other reasons, I don't think Ronald Reagan would EVER accept Trump's dark vision of America as a failed state. He would have been appalled by that kind of pessimism about our country. It's good to hear it from someone who knew him so well. I also agree that Nancy Reagan wouldn't have backed Trump if you held a gun on her! Trump is the dark reflection of Reagan republicanism, the polar opposite of everything he stood for.
Reagan was elected governor of California in 1966, not 1968.
Ooof. 1966 “The Right Moment”. Thank you 🙏🏼

Funny how you didn't directly address two of the most famous things Reagan said. You couldn't even argue I misinterpreted them.
Instead, you changed the topic, got partisan and then resorted to petty personal attacks. You acted just like Trump, nickname and all. You're MAGA.
Keep running your mouth Bill. You’re doing a great job.
It's over. You got no game.

Also won the Cold War while your ilk were undermining America at every turn.
Youre welcome.
Coming from you, that's a compliment.
