Mike, your interview with Politico is fascinating.

It crystallized your thesis for me, and illustrated the prism of Harris' messaging and economic policies.

This panel discussion at the Texas Tribune Festival was well worth the listen. Two moments that stood out for me were Mike Madrid's eloquent explanation of the concept and meaning of democracy -- "...I don't get what I want all of the time..." and "...compromise is the glue that binds us...". Also, Maria Kumar's fascinating and encouraging work with the Texas Latino community, and her point about how the TikTok disinformation network targeting Latinos was caught flat-footed by Biden dropping out. If I am correct in my interpretation, it seems the latter gave Harris a window of opportunity to break through with her messaging and define herself before TikTok disinformation could switch gears.

Jim, I just listened to the TribFest stream this morning. I ended up using Mike’s definition of democracy being compromise during a political discussion I had with my Gen Z son this morning.

Maria Teresa Kumar is so very on point! I searched for her here on substack- does anyone know if she or Voto Latino is here? She knows her stuff and is amazing!

The Kamala curveball of switching horses mid-stream disrupting the disinformation machine was a very interesting observation. I feel that the disinformation authors are quickly correcting the flat footedness, however. Many left of center Gen Z does not currently see Trump as a danger. They see him as a funny meme. Some will even vote for him for entertainment value, as if they were voting for him to stay in the house or on the island. At the same time, the more serious minded Gen Z’ers are disenchanted with Harris enough to not vote for her, or anybody. It must be a very hard line to walk appeasing your base as well as the marginal swing vote.

Thank you for posting the link to the full panel, Mike. Now I have something intelligent to watch on the "T-V" (nod to Chuck Rocha) this evening. Looking forward to it!
