MikeDrop - Latino Polling Shows Harris Slipping

The NYTimes/Siena poll and the Texas Hispanic Policy Institute released polling data today that shows Harris slipping with Latinos. What does it mean and can it be fixed?

What’s with the NYTimes/Siena poll? What’s with the Texas Hispanic Policy Foundation poll? Both show slippage for Harris in a key demographic, Latinos.

Just last week a Democratic pollster shared data from his work that the bleeding of Latino voters may be from other demographic groups rather than third-generation Latinos. This would suggest a broader problem for Harris, which I outlined in my Sunday article on her pivot away from immigration reform.

We won’t know what this shift away from Harris means if anything. However, I will point out that movement in a poll is far more important than the actual numbers each poll is pinpointing.

Bottom line: Don’t read too much into this today. I do not doubt that the direction away from Harris is accurate, but this is not a typical movement among Latino voters at this point in the cycle.
