I was hoping we’d get a Lincoln post with President’s Day being in February-thanks, Mike. I agree that we must adhere to our values and contribute to and focus on our communities in ways that align with those values.
Mike, your Right Makes Might letter today sounds too mild for February 22, 2025. I just listened to the current Latino Vote podcast with your guest from CA. It all sounds so procedural; talking about legislative caucuses. I get that this is the nitty gritty of how politicians make the sausage. It seems like fluff instead of addressing the Five Alarm Fire our nation is living now.
There’s far more than way too many voices screaming about the five alarm fires right now. Frankly, I know longer think being a part of that chorus is helpful…it’s turning into click bait with no action.
I’m trying to offer a historical perspective for those that want to understand the historical context of the moment - that’s how we understand how our society is changing.
That’s why I’ve cut back on Twitter. Not interested in screaming along with others. The past eight years must show us that’s not working.
Hope that helps explain what I’m doing here. If you’re looking for more alarmism you probably won’t find it here
Thank you, Mike! We need to have hope and inspiration in order to persevere. We can always count on you to illuminate the way forward by bringing historical perspective to bear.
Another great post Mike and my favorite line is “ the American exceptionalism of our mythology” let me know if you ever want to grab coffee.
Coffee would be great! I’m around all next week
