I think this is the best article you have written. Its about the grift. I was a Republican at one point for principle reasons its crystal clear why l washed out. There is no place in the GOP for those with convictions.

Plenty of convictions - just no moral principles.

When money is all you care about in the end there are no convictions.

Felony convictions aplenty.

Watching this unfold, I'll admit my first instinct is satisfaction. There's a certain grim pleasure in seeing the inevitable play out. But then I remember: buildings don't collapse in isolation. When a structure finally gives way, the debris doesn't respect property lines. We all knew MAGA's foundation was compromised, that someday the weight would be too much. But knowing something will collapse and living through the aftermath are different things entirely. Every headline now carries the cost of that calculation.

And yet, as I watch this slow-motion failure, my critical eye turns inward toward the Democratic party. If I'm honest, really honest, I can see the cracks there too. Smaller maybe, easier to ignore, but cracks nonetheless. Which brings me to the harder question: will we do what humans have always done when our own house shows damage? Will we look away, tell ourselves it's fine, watch those fissures widen until one day we're standing in our own rubble? Or will we have the courage to face the uncomfortable work: the renovations, the replacements, the repairs that actually hold?

But first, we'd have to stop staring at their collapse long enough to inspect our own walls.

It's mind boggling the damage Citizens United has done.

Thanks for connecting the dots Mike! Throughout this read, I found myself substituting Kirk with Trump. Eerie prediction of the same GOP collapse, once their Chief Pedo leader is gone?

Mike, some of your best writing. Thank you for your work. Which red hat will be left to mind the store once Trump is gone? Every man and women for themselves.

masterful summary. I echo this. charlie grew tpusa so fast and so successfully based on reach/influence and yet kept trying to build an ideology off trumpism. his own venture into hillsdale offered some respite but also more content to churn, though virtuous content that made the "movement" message work. tpusa still has "it" but MAGA was never going to be inherited without a brawl.

The Kirkers I know don’t like what TP USA has become, so Candace Owens is now their go to.
