The comments by the swing voter that a woman shouldn't be president stun me. What do they think of Margaret Thatcher? On a side note l'd like to hear one of these swing voters tell Thatcher or the "Iron Lady" that she should not lead because she's a woman. What bothers me most in this podcast is the fact that many voters don't know history or civics. And we're suffering because of that fact.

I think that last point underscores so much of what’s wrong today

So these swing voters want sweeping changes done quickly but also they want gridlock with opposing party rule? I understand the desires separately, but how do these combine to form a uniform coherent viewpoint? No wonder they are never satisfied.

Good discussion about focus groups. I also listen to the focus group podcast by Sarah Longwell of the Bulwark. I would love to hear you discuss this topic with her as well.

Many of these purported "swing voters" seem to be voters who want what they want when they want it with no real knowledge of governance, a stunningly jaw dropping lack of curiosity of what they are woefully ignorant of, a lack of compassion for their fellow human beings and no allegiance to decency.

It is beyond sad that they don't feel any responsibility to cast their votes for anything or anyone outside of their immediate reality and lives. Their selfishness is toxic for democratic governance.

Sorry, not sorry.

I think Chuck Todd must subscribe to your Substack. I heard Tim Miller (Bulwark) interview him today and he hit every redistricting talking point you made yesterday! I am looking forward to listening to the conversation you just posted. Thanks Mike.
